Some people are fond of telling other people “not to do anything halfway.” And it isn’t just because my procrastination skills are legion, that I take issue with such a statement. In fact, I think there are some things that are completely appropriate to do halfway. For instance, “halfway” is a perfect place to meet someone. It is also very important that some houses be “halfway.” And, “halfway around the world,” is a lot more interesting than, all the way around the world. I mean, I’m all the way around the world right now, and no one seems very excited about it. But, why exactly am I writing this blog, extolling the virtues of “halfway,” you might ask. Well, the reason is simple. I’ve made a decision. A decision to start blogging everyday. But I’m only halfway committed to it.
You see, writing doesn’t come naturally to me. It’s a war in my brain just to get the first sentence down. And it’s not like one of those Lord Of The Rings wars, where some tree people or giant hawks show up at the very last second to save me. I’m all alone here with my coffee and refurbished Dell.
Most of the time I have no idea what to write about, and the first few things that pop into my head are unquestionably appalling. This morning I considered writing a little piece about dog hair. How does it end up in everything!? And how come my dog isn’t bald by now? Lucky for you, that’s about all I have to say about that.
So I’m gonna give this a try. Write a little something everyday. To be totally honest, this probably won’t last too long, but whatever. Please comment, but be warned, It will only encourage me.

Beautiful photo Eliot! I’d like to hear your new album! Do thou have Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way? She suggests writing three pages each morning. That’s what I’ve done for a long, long time…and wrote the first draft of my novel with that system. It works, especially if you do it first thing in the morning!

Hey Eliot, I had a sneaking suspicion that your masthead photo might be part of your album cover. Very nice photo–kudos to Josh and I hope his business is flourishing! How did you get those birds in the photo? Happy accident or are they like those realistic Halloween props oh so artfully placed in the background?
